Senate President Blair Praises Owens & Minor for Plan to Locate Facility in Morgantown

CHARLESTON – Senate President Craig Blair, R-Berkeley, praised today’s announcement by global health care solutions company Owens & Minor of their plan to locate a health care products and preparedness center in Morgantown.

In December, the company announced a strategic partnership with the West Virginia University Health System to support hospitals throughout the WVU Medicine network. Owens & Minor is a mostly Americas-based manufacturer of surgical supplies and personal protective equipment. When operational, the Morgantown center will create more than 100 jobs and represents a nearly $50 million investment in health care in West Virginia.

“It’s exciting to me to see in one day three big economic development announcements,” Senate President Blair said. “With Nucor, GreenPower Motors, and now this expanded partnership with Owens & Minor, it’s been one of West Virginia’s brightest days. This facility will help manufacture equipment that keeps people safe and healthy, and we thank WVU, Dr. Gee, WVU Health System President and CEO Albert Wright, and Governor Justice for the work they did to develop this relationship.”
