CHARLESTON, W.V. – Senate Minority Leader Jeff Kessler (D-Marshall) is urging all West Virginians to come to the State Capitol as a show support for West Virginia’s working men and women and building contractors. Minority Leader Kessler made his plea from the senate floor following an attempt to kill SB 361, the bill to repeal West Virginia’s prevailing wage law.

On Friday, House Minority Leader Tim Miley (D-Harrison) delivered a letter to newly elected House Speaker Tim Armstead (R-Kanawha) requesting an Economic Impact Statement on H.B. 2001, Repeal the Alternative and Renewable Energy Portfolio Act.
Acting decisively on the first day of the 82nd Legislature, the House of Delegates adopted an economic impact statement rule. This rule creates a process to allow economists to provide key economic information to delegates before they vote on specific legislation.

CHARLESTON – Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin announced today that Gregory L. Boso has been appointed to fill the vacant Senate seat in the 11th District. The seat became vacant after Senator Clark Barnes resigned Wednesday to become Senate Clerk.
CHARLESTON –History was made today in the State Capitol when Kanawha County Delegate Tim Armstead was sworn in as the first Republican Speaker in the House of Delegates, since the capitol building’s dedication in 1932.
