Charleston, W.Va. – This week will mark the first time since 1930 that there will be a Republican majority in the House of Delegates. Since the Capitol’s dedication in 1932, it will also be the first time ever that a Republican Speaker of House will preside in the chamber.
In an ongoing effort to make the legislative process more accessible to the public, both houses of the West Virginia Legislature are being equipped to live stream video of chamber proceedings that can be viewed on most desktop browsers and mobile devices.
Looking back on the water crisis that occurred one-year ago, it is important to reflect on how everyone worked together and looked out for one another during such a difficult and challenging time. Our fire departments, law enforcement officers and emergency service agencies, as well as our churches and charitable organizations worked tirelessly to come to the aid of those impacted. These acts demonstrate our values of community and the strength and resiliency we all share as West Virginians.
I am deeply saddened by the loss of an outstanding and dynamic leader of our state, Governor Arch A. Moore, Jr. Governor Moore leaves a rich legacy in West Virginia. There are hundreds of miles of roads and countless schools throughout our state that are here today because of his tireless efforts. It was obvious that he loved West Virginia deeply and he worked so hard to improve the lives of our citizens
