CHARLESTON, W.Va. — When members of the West Virginia House of Delegates took the oath of office Wednesday, Jan. 11, to kick off the first session of the 86th Legislature, it marked the first time in history the state will be represented by single-member House districts.

CHARLESTON – The West Virginia Senate passed 23 bills during the first day of the 2023 Regular Session, getting a jump start on many of the state’s most challenging issues including addressing the hospital reimbursement rate for PEIA and restructuring the Department of Health and Human Resources.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Returning House Speaker Roger Hanshaw, R-Clay, publicly announced today the full roster of leadership roles members of the House of Delegates will hold for the upcoming 86th Legislature.
The elected Democrats in the West Virginia Senate met Tuesday to select their new Minority Leader for the 86th Legislature. Senator Mike Woelfel (D-Cabell) was chosen to replace Stephen Baldwin (D-Greenbrier), who did not win his bid for re-election to the Senate.
CHARLESTON, W.Va. — House Speaker Roger Hanshaw, R-Clay, will contact members of the House of Delegates next week to call them back into session Monday, Sept. 12 alongside the regularly scheduled interim committee meetings.
